Covid- 19 Safety measures

LSO COVID-19 SAFETY MEASURES 

Throughout the pandemic our priority has been the safety and welfare of our students, staff and patients. Following the announcement of the reduction of in some restrictions lifting in England the LSO are looking at how this impacts the measures we have in place for everyone who is attending either the college or clinic in person.

 

The following measures will remain in place for students attending college:

  • Regular COVID-19 lateral flow testing
  • Wearing of PPE during clinical sessions and during practical lecture sessions
  • Wearing of face masks whilst moving around the college 
  • Changing of outdoor shoes on arrival
  • Temperature check on arrival
  • One way systems
  • Increased hand sanitising stations
  • Increased cleaning of premises
  • Personal chair covering

The following measures will remain in place for patients visiting the clinic:

Please do not attend college or clinic if you or a member of your household are experiencing symptoms of Covid-19 or you have been told to self-isolate by NHS track and trace.

 

 

COVID- 19 Lateral Flow Testing

Everyone is now eligible for free lateral flow testing kits and ALL students are encouraged to take part in regular Covid testing regardless of your vaccine status. We recommend that students should test the day before or the morning they are due to attend the college or the clinic.

Students can obtain tests from either:  a local centre (this includes a large number of local pharmacies); or arrange for these to be posted to your home.

Teaching Arrangements

Following consultation with both students and tutors learning will take place in the college, in the clinic, and supported by live online lectures. Practical lectures will take place face to face in the college. Supporting theory lectures will take place online. Online lectures will be live with tutors.

Our library is now open for students to make use of the facilities here.
