LSO COVID-19 SAFETY MEASURES

Throughout the pandemic our priority has been the safety and welfare of our students, staff and patients. Following the announcement of the reduction of in some restrictions lifting in England the LSO are looking at how this impacts the measures we have in place for everyone who is attending either the college or clinic in person.

From the 17th May 2001 the following measures will remain in place for students attending clinic or college:

  • Regular COVID-19 lateral flow testing
  • Wearing of PPE during clinical sessions and during practical lecture sessions
  • Wearing of face masks whilst moving around the college and clinic (this includes all staff and patients)
  • Following the 1m plus guidance unless during hands on sessions where this is not possible (this includes all staff and patients)

(Are we continuing to make people change clothing?? )

  • Temperature check on arrival
  • One way systems
  • Increased hand sanitising stations
  • Increased cleaning of premises

Please do not attend college or clinic if you or a member of your household are experiencing symptoms of Covid-19 or you have been told to self-isolate by NHS track and trace.

COVID- 19 Lateral Flow Testing

Everyone is now eligible for free lateral flow testing kits and ALL students are encouraged to take part in regular Covid testing regardless of your vaccine status. We recommend that students should test the day before or the morning they are due to attend the college or the clinic.

Students can obtain tests from either:  a local centre (this includes a large number of local pharmacies); or arrange for these to be posted to your home.

Vaccination

All osteopathy students attending the clinic are classed as eligible for the vaccination as ‘front line health and social care workers with frequent face to face contact with patients and … are directly involved in patient care’.

Students who are attending clinic are strongly encouraged to take up the offer of the vaccine and they do not need to wait until they are called by age.

Students who have already had their first dose of the vaccine should have a second dose when they are called.
