Looking for a Vocational Degree? Discover Osteopathy Once You Leave School
Are you currently considering life after school or college? We understand that this can be a really tough decision. Whether it’s university, apprenticeships or straight into work, deciding on your next step is daunting.
If you know you want to further your education with studies that will lead you straight into a career, a vocational degree could be a great choice. Doing a vocational degree means that your uni years will be spent learning the skills and knowledge needed for a particular career. Unlike traditional academic courses, vocational university courses are designed with a career-focused approach, ensuring that you’re ready to step directly into a professional role when you graduate.
If you’re looking for a career after graduation where you can truly make a positive impact on people’s health, now could be the perfect time to consider an osteopathy degree. Let’s explore why osteopathy might be the perfect vocation for you after finishing school or college.
What Is Osteopathy?
Osteopathy is a healthcare profession that takes a holistic approach to patient care, focusing on diagnosing and treating physical imbalances within the body to improve overall health. Osteopaths use a combination of hands-on techniques and exercises to aid recovery, making osteopathy a dynamic and hands-on discipline. For students passionate about health, anatomy, and helping others, a vocational course in osteopathy offers a direct path into this rewarding healthcare career.

Why Choose a Vocational Degree?
Vocational degrees, especially in fields like healthcare, allow you to start building your professional skills from day one. Instead of learning primarily through textbooks, you’ll gain practical experience, which is highly valued by employers (and more interesting for you!).
For those interested in osteopathy, this means hands-on clinical training as part of your vocational course, helping you develop the real-world skills essential for effective patient care.
Studying at the LSO
If you decide to study with us at the London School of Osteopathy, you won’t just be studying theory. Unlike traditional theory courses, our students get the chance to work closely with patients in our clinic, developing the technical and interpersonal skills needed to build a successful career in osteopathy. This immediate application of knowledge gives our graduates a distinct advantage in their careers. You’ll be fully prepared to transition into a professional environment after graduation.
Why Choose an MOst in Osteopathy?
Vocational degrees, especially in healthcare, allow you to build professional skills from day one. Rather than learning primarily through textbooks, you’ll gain hands-on experience, which is highly valued by employers (and more interesting for you!).
At the LSO, we offer students the choice of qualifying with an integrated undergraduate Masters of Osteopathy (MOst) or Bachelors of Osteopathy (Hons). All students are initially enrolled on the MOst course.
Both osteopathy qualifications enable you to become a fully-fledged independent practitioner of osteopathy, accredited by the General Osteopathic Council.
Flexible Study Options at LSO
One of the unique aspects of studying osteopathy with us is the flexibility offered. Unlike other universities, we empower you to choose the study pathway that suits you best. Whether you choose to study full-time or part-time, our vocational university courses are designed to fit around various lifestyles.
We offer part-time courses for those balancing work or family commitments, providing more flexibility than traditional MOst vocational courses.
Your Future Career Opportunities
Upon graduating with a Bachelors of Osteopathy, or an MOst you’ll have a range of career options available to you. Most graduates go on to work in private clinics or healthcare practices, either as part of a team or by setting up their own practice. With the increased awareness of holistic health and preventative care, the demand for osteopaths is growing. Graduates from LSO are highly regarded in the healthcare community and often find employment swiftly after finishing their degree, thanks to the practical training and support our team provides.
For those with ambitions beyond clinical practice, there are also opportunities in research, teaching, or further studies in healthcare. Osteopathy graduates can continue their education with postgraduate courses to specialise in areas such as sports therapy or rehabilitation, expanding their skillset and potential career paths.
